Twitter iOS app ‘uh oh, an error was encountered’ message

Twitter is one of the most popular social media platforms on the internet. Users can share their thoughts in the form of short messages called ‘tweets’.

As of March 2022, the service had more than 330 million users with a revenue of more than $5 billion last year.

That being said, Twitters users are no strangers when it comes to bugs with many recently reporting issues such as images and videos not loading for Vodafone UK subscribers, unable to view threads or load replies and auto-refreshing timeline making a comeback.

And as if these weren’t enough, many iOS users who use the Twitter app are now saying (1,2,3,4,5) that they are getting an ‘uh oh, an error was encountered’ message.

Some are also getting a ‘Tweets aren’t loading right now’ message when trying to load tweets. The issue is making it impossible for many to use the platform.

Users said they tried generic solutions like clearing app cache and uninstalling and reinstalling the Twitter app but to no avail. You can see in the image below what the error message looks like for those affected.

hey @Twitter: for some reason I cannot post tweets or even read threads on my iPhone – instead I get the message “uh oh, an error was encountered” and “try again”. Do you, or does anyone out there know how I might fix this? @TwitterSupport @TwitterID

Down detector – a popular service that gives information about live outages – also conveys that Twitter users are experiencing a problem with the platform.

As it turns out, the problem is only limited to those using the app on iOS, with website user reporting that they are facing no such issue.

Unfortunately, Twitter is yet to acknowledge the issue where users are getting the error message, let alone work on a fix.
